Halal Cart: Chicken Over Rice

Halal Cart Chicken over rice is super cheap and easy to make!

Once you have made the two separate parts (the chicken and the rice), add some salad, raw onions, and cube-cut tomatoes to the side of the dish to make it a bit more healthy and authentic!



  • 1 cup Basmati Rice
  • 1.75 Cup of chicken broth (or vegetable broth)
  • 1 Tsp Paprika
  • 1 Tsp Tumeric
  • 1 Tsp Cumin
  • 1 spoonful of butter


  • 1-2 Skinless Boneless Chicken breast cut into strips 
  • 1 Spoonful of tandoori paste
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp chopped garlic
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp seasoning salt
  • 1 tsp chili powder (any hot spice is fine)


  • mix seasonings with dry rice
  • heat up butter in pot
  • sautee the dry rice and seasoning for 3 min on medium heat
  • Put rice and chicken broth in rice cooker and let it cook


  • boil rice in broth for 15-25 min
    • check every 5-6 min
  • Mix everything into a bowl of bite-sized boneless chicken
  • Let marinate for as long as you want (10 min is enough time for me)
  • Fry or grill till cooked
