This is the basic foundational recipe for most indian dishes, as we move forward with other recipes please refer to this one! 

Ingredients

1 Cup of Basmati Rice

1.75 Cups of water for 1 Cup of rice

 

Recipe

Steps (using a pot):

  1.  Wash the rice at minimum 3 times, you want to remove all the starch which makes the rice sticky
  2. Boil the water first, DO NOT PUT THE WASHED RICE IN THE COLD WATER
  3. Add washed rice to boiling water
  4. Reduce heat to low/medium heat
  5. Boil for 15-25 min
    • every 5-7 min stir the rice and check if it is done

Steps (using a pot):

  1.  Wash the rice at minimum 3 times, you want to remove all the starch which makes the rice sticky
  2. Boil the water first, DO NOT PUT THE WASHED RICE IN THE COLD WATER
  3. Add washed rice to boiling water
  4. Add to rice cooker
  5. Push the cooker button to start and let the rice cooker cook the rice
